EORI Registration compulsory
for all import to & exports from EU countries All VAT-registered exporters and importers located in the European Union need to have a valid ‘EORI’-number (Economic Operators Registration and Identification) since a few weeks. This is necessary for all companies / people holding a national VAT-registration. Please note it is not required for private/individual persons.
The EORI number is required when making customs declarations for importing or exporting goods, including live horses or other livestock. Companies who do not hold a valid EORI registration yet, can no longer act as importer or exporter.
If you should not have a valid EORI number yet, it is important to register at once with your national tax authority, otherwise your horse(s) will be held by customs at the border.
